Description Description

Pack your bags and move right into this modern cabin inspired by Nordic simplicity. Architecturally unique, Black Diamond is an ideal immersive experience in the heart of the Finger Lakes.  You’ll find this gem located on a private road at the base of a working vineyard within an old growth hemlock forest on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake.

Inside, the soaring asymmetrical ceilings offer an unimpeded view of the lake and the surrounding forest including a full wall of windows facing west to capture those famous Seneca Lake sunsets.

Looking to escape from the hustle and bustle? Black Diamond offers privacy with only one near neighbor to the north and the expanse of the Finger Lakes National Forest to the South. The first level has an open floor plan with a galley kitchen equipped with a stainless-steel appliance suite, quartz counter tops and everything you need for your stay. The kitchen/dining/living area opens onto a large wrap around deck with sweeping views of the lake, comfy outdoor lounge seating, propane grill and hot tub.

Black Diamond sleeps up to four people with an enclosed first floor bedroom and expansive loft level that includes both sleeping and reading/lounge areas with a bird’s eye view of the lake. The bathroom is on the first level with a large walk-in shower and heated flooring.

For the nature lovers; Eagles, Osprey, Herons and many other birds that call the lake home nest nearby.  At times, enjoy watching these wonderful lake loving animals fly right by the window wall, or overhead of the decks.  The private lakefront at Black Diamond provides a secluded cove-like shoreline with the National Forest as a buffer.  At the lake you will find seating for four and two kayaks for your personal enjoyment.

Proving to be an ideal couple’s retreat; book your getaway and host friends for part of your stay saving a few days for yourself.  No one will ever know you snagged those extra days of quiet bliss!  Ask to learn about additional services that can be added onto your stay at Black Diamond.  Host a private chef for the evening, or have a relaxing massage.

A small fire pit is provided on the lakefront for taking in the sights and sounds of the lake, while warming up next to a modest fire. Fire wood is not provided- please only use local firewood, which can be purchased at many roadside stands and gas stations.

The road to Black Diamond navigates through a working vineyard, and then becomes a single lane, dirt road with steep twists and turns.  It is strongly recommended to have AWD or 4WD vehicles to navigate these roads.  A private garage offering space for 2 standard size vehicles with height less than 7 feet tall is available for use.  If your vehicle is oversized, or too tall, it’s requested you park alongside the driveway.

Lovely Stay, some Lil extras would be nice
Property overall is great! Clean, taken care of inside, beautiful spot + lakefront. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend. That being said we do feel at the price point a bit more should have been provided. Their was no extra linens or blankets at all. We were quite cold the one night. The pillows were one per person with a metal headboard. We felt like the downstairs "living room" seating was not optimal for just relaxing and hanging out. It isn't lounge worthy (it's aesthetic only) and as a group of friends we wound up having to play board games in our bed lol. Our butts just needed some comfy seats after hiking! More than 2 kayaks would have also been nice considering it's a larger home with more than 2 people staying most often. We got 1.5 rolls of toilet paper for 4 days and 4 people. So we had to grab more. It just felt overall very bare minimum for the price point BUT still a nice place.

We had a lovely stay at Black Diamond. It's the perfect retreat for a couple. The sunsets are fantastic and we really enjoyed sitting down by the lake. The kayaks are a nice bonus! We kayaked down to the point - what a cool historical park! The morning views of the lake from the loft are outstanding and the house in general is comfortable with a warm esthetic. In addition, Premier was very responsive when we had questions and issues.

Beautiful new house but bring a lot of filtered water.
The house is new and beautiful, nicely furnished and kitchen is well stocked with the exception of a Keurig. There is a coffee pot but lids provided do not fit so you can’t make coffee. We enjoyed using the provided kayaks. The large deck is perfect for relaxing after a hike or kayaking. We also enjoyed the hot tub. There is one major issue to keep in mind. The water is drawn from the lake and has an extremely strong sulfur smell. When someone is showering the smell permeates the entire house. Though it may be safe to drink the smell is revolting so make sure to bring a significant amount of bottled water. We took note that none of the wineries, breweries or restaurants seems to have the same issue when we used their bathrooms. There must be a way to filter the water. The house is otherwise wonderful and we would stay there again but with plenty of filtered water.

Great location with stunning views of the lake and sunsets. The parking for two cars is tight. Bring your own drinking water.

We had a great time at Black Diamond. The property and views were beautiful! It was private and quiet at the end of the drive. We love this area of Seneca lake. There are so many wineries and breweries just around the corner from the rental. We will likely return in the future!

Black Diamond is a Gem !
Up for long weekend for 2024 Eclipse - cloudy skies were briefly disappointing, but stay at Black Diamond was bright ! Clean, comfortable, peaceful for our party of four (wife & I, daughter, granddaughter). Enjoyed the quiet, family time ! There is no TV, great to get away from it, played board & card games, did crafts with granddaughter. High-speed internet 100% reliable, did stream to get sports updates ! Deck is great spot to view lake, cook on the outdoor grill, soak in hot tub. Lake still too cold to enjoy a dip or the kayaks provided with the house. Large garage accommodated parking SUV inside. Drive through Caywood Vineyards will look even better when grapes come-in !
