Visit Three of Our Favorite Finger Lakes Farmers Markets
The Windmill Farm & Craft Market
The Windmill Farm & Craft Market started in 1978 and is the oldest of its kind in Upstate New York. It runs from the last Saturday in April until the second Saturday in December and is open on observed holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, making it one of the longest-running markets as well. It's in Penn Yann, midway between Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake. You'll find a huge range of products here, from prepared meals (perfect for eating while you're browsing) to collectibles. Without a doubt, though, the produce is the highlight of the market. You never know what might pique your interest at the market. You'll even find flowers to set the table!
Canandaigua Farmers Market
Guests staying near Canandaigua should head to the northernmost tip of the lake to the farmers market! The Canandaigua Farmers Market has an outstanding selection, with meats, cheeses, pickles, sauces, and jams, as well as high-quality fruits and vegetables. You'll have no trouble getting everything you need for a world-class dinner at home! The vendors participating in the market must sell what they produce, so you know you're getting locally sourced items that are made with love and care. Their summer market runs from June through the last Saturday in October, and their winter market is every other Saturday in November.
Ithaca Farmers Market
One of the biggest markets on our list is Ithaca Farmers Market. If you're staying near this cozy college town on the shore of Cayuga Lake, you'll definitely want to make a point to stop by. Unlike the others on our list, there are four locations scattered through Ithaca. The main market is in a waterfront park overlooking Cayuga Lake near Steamboat Landing. It's open on the weekend from April to December. The three other sites are located in Dewitt Park, East Hill Plaza, and their winter market in The Space at GreenStar. When you take all of its locations into consideration, Ithaca Farmers Market runs year-round! Most importantly, it provides a direct connection between farmers and the public.
